Thanks to everyone how gave me super support / advice re win2000.
Alhough i have norton firewall on it now i am considering Sone Alarm
free ed. firewall.

Over the weekend i took an old compact win98 PII machine. i yanked out
the ram and reinstalled with my two 32 mb chips on the bottom....not it
runs fine. This machine has 4G hard drive as it had been used as a server.

However i cannot seem to get the bios info. I may have disabled this
myself a long time ago when i first got the machine. However i tried
everything. I looked in Hardware Bible, my PCBible, and
www.howthingswork.com. I tried holding down the del, escp, F1, F2, and
F8 keys, as well as alt, esc del and a few others all together. the only
thing that happens is i get a very long ram check then immediately the
win98 splash screen.

i am not downloading bios agent from unicore. Other than that i am at my
wits end.

One reason i was thinking of looking at or upgrading the bios was when i
was installing some software (office 2000 for example) i got "this does
not appear to be a valid windows installer program, etc etc' But the
disk worked fine on win2000.

Thanks ahead of time for your help
