Currently our company runs some Informix 4GL applications on an SCO
Unix System with a Pentium 90/128 MB and it's a wee bit slow
sometimes. The database uses 800 MB of disk space and 15 to 25 people
are connected to it.
I'm going to replace the system and like to run Linux instead of SCO
Unix. Is Informix on Linux usable? Does it run without problems and
would you suggest it for business applications.
I'm planning to use a Intel system tuned for high I/O throughput with
a SCSI-RAID-Controller (RAID-5), a dual processor board with one
processor initially and 256 MB RAM. Anything I should specifically
look out for?
