The regular kernels work with smp. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be
working with your computer. That's all I did on mine and it works fine.
Did you change the processor type from the default? I think that the
default kernel is for the 386. I'm not sure that would make a difference
though. Where is it saying that you only have one processor? Is it only
listing one processor in the boot messages? Did you do a make clean
before compiling?
