I have a 7502 also, and use cdrecord to write to it.
Xcdroast didn't support the writer unless you recompiled it.
Cdrecord is nicer anyways, as far as I'm concerned.
It has a -dummy mode to make test runs, and test for
buffer underruns.
I found it very easy to learn after getting the package
Create-a-cd which has a step by step intro in it's README
file.
Here's the lsm for it:

Windows is such a mess sometimes. :-)
Did you try "Installing New Hardware", then the scsi card.
Does the Device Manager show the scsi card ?
Is the terminator set properly on the 7502,
and is the scsi I.D set right?
