It's getting there. Dell now have a Fibre channel SCSI controller
supporting 126 drives per controller. AT 18G per drive that's 2T per
controller! Look at http://www.dell.com/products/powervault/tech/fibre.htm

How long will it be before we see
"lightwave computers", which use optical switches,
motherboards that run with microscopic fiber-optic
channels, and have a laser to keep it flowing.

        Running at Terra-hertz speeds.

Our copper-based boards will be antiques eventually.
