I have a Realtek8029 (pci) and a Realtek8019(isa) ; both are NE2000
cards. They are on different machines, and both are built into the
kernel. They both need to be declared in conf.modules to get them
to work.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "built into the kernel".
I have the ethernet NE2000 support for the cards built with
an "*" , rather than "M" in make menuconfig.
