I received this error when trying to setup kIRC.  I do believe that I have
all gcc stuff installed with the defaults.

checking for xlC... no
checking for DCC... no
checking for c++... no
checking for g++... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc -O2 -Wall -s) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler
cannot create executables.

Any ideas?
