[SuSE Linux] Why is Yast's package search so slow?

I've noticed that when I use Yast to search for installed packages on my
system (using F5 under Package Information), the search takes several
minutes - far longer than it takes to search the CDROM.  Since the
search appears to be almost entirely a CPU computation, I'm puzzled as
to why it should take so long.  Have other people had the same
experience?
