Hello

I run SuSE 5.3. I just installed HylaFax and SuSE Fax, and I noticed that I
could no longer dial-up using wvdial and the like---it tells me that I don't
have permission all of a sudden. (I can dial as root!) For some reason though,
I can still use Kppp to dial-up (as non-root). My /dev/modem is linked to
/dev/ttyS1 which has the following permissions:

crw------- 1 uucp uucp 4, 65 Mar 4 13:32 ./ttyS1

If I change these, they are almost immediately changed back (thank god for
SuSE's quite thoughtful idiot proofing). Also, was this always
uucp.uucp? Anyway, I am not sure what changed
with the installation of HylaFax and SuSE Fax, but if it is connected, I also
noticed that when I hit "get status" in SuSEFax, it tells me it is waiting for
the modem to become ready. And, I am gettin mails that say that HylaFax thinks
my modem is "wedged". What's that?!

TIA,

chris
