Go to suse's website and search the support database by
hardware. Then select souncards, and find the article on setting up
a soundblaster.
There has been a big change in the way you setup sound
between versions 5.3 and 6.0. Also there is a difference
in setup between the 2.036 kernel and the 2.2.* kernels.
It is very easy to setup sound with the OSS sound system from
4Front. It only costs about 25 bucks, but is a lifetime license with
free upgrades. Otherwise, you can spend a saturday afternoon
trying to set it up manually.
I do it manually, but have easily spent over 20 hours learning
about sound. If you are pressed for time, get OSS, otherwise
post what version of suse you are using and what kernel you use.
Basically, you setup isapnp, edit it, compile sound as a module,
and turn sound on as root.
