  Your best bet will be to edit your /etc/profile file, look for the
alias section and edit the line that reads the following
  alias ls='ls --color=tty'
and make it say
  alias ls='ls --color=never'
logout then log back in, next time your run an 'ls' command you will
nolonger see any colors.
