I don't know if someone mentioned this to you yet,
but the 2.2.* series of kernels switched the irqs around for /dev/lp1
and /dev/lp0. /dev/lp1 now is irq5 and /dev/lp0 is now irq7.
Check this against your souncard settings, there may be a conflict.
So check your system bios for the irq setting for your parallel port,
check your soundcard irq, check yast to see if you are on /dev/lp0
or /dev/lp1, and open conf.modules to check irq and port for the
printer module, if you went modular.
