Actually, I found the SuSE 6 rpms at http://gnome.linuxbe.org/.
These are 1.0.1 rpms for gnome.

I downloaded all the rpms into a directory, went to a console and typed
rpm -Uvh *rpm and let it fly. I got a lot of dependency issues with
glib/gtk with that one. I resolved them and did it again and it took.
