We'll thanks to alot of help from this mail list I have my card working!
Use the svga driver because the xfcom_sis was added to it.
Or at least this worked for me.
In sax go to the tab "card" there is an expert mode add all your settings
their.
check these in options     "nobitblt"   "noaccl"  "sw_cursor"
You'll find the xf86config's in /etc i found several on my computer I just
made sure they all said the same thing.
I added my correct amount of memory 8196 in the etc manually.

I've finally managed 1024x768 in 16bpp has anyone managed 24bpp  :)

If you still have problems with it I'll email you  a copy of my config.
I've tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and tweaked till I got mine running
where I liked it.
