I use Netscape 4.5 in Win98 (I have a winmodem) and also have a strange problem with
extensions changing.  When I try to dl .tar.gz files they are listed as .tar.tar in
the "save to disk" dialog box. If I remember at the time I correct it then. If I
forget then I change it wherever it was saved. No problem.

Something else I noticed,  when trying to dl .rpm files in Netscape Real Player tries
to play them. So I just dl .rpms with I.E. One of these days I'll get around to
removing Real Player. I don't use it anyway.
