  Your right, Linux will not run on Win9x or even NT for that matter,
but what happens with loadlin is that the computer is restarted and
booted into Linux. I can't recall if Win9x will give you an opportunity
tosave any open files or not, but I do seem to recall NT allowing you to
save open files before it reboots.
