Dear Joe,
Have you also enabled ipforwarding in the rc.config file. This can also be
done via yast and configuration file. I have had the same problem. if you
want to use kernel 2.2.x new problems will occur that is ipchains. That can
be downloaded from www.suse.de/~bb/
If you need more help you can ask. I have setup IP masquerading using Suse
6.0 with 2.0.x and now with 2.2.x
