Michael is correct. Check out Xfree86.org and you will see in the list of
supported drivers that the G200 chip is directly supported. This would not be
the case if it was merely supported through the generic SVGA driver.
However, as with most any cards, the feature connectors and advanced
functionaility such as SVIDEO are usually not supported. This is not always the
result of a failure of the company to provide specs, but in my experience more
often because not enough people cared enough about that type of functionality to
put the effort into writing the necessary driver code. I strongly believe (but
don't know for sure) that Matrox releases specs for their cards to the community
very quickly. I believe this because drivers for their cards on Linux are almost
always availble very shortly after the release of a new card. Also, Matrox has
always been very supportive of alternative OS' (I know this as a former OS/2
user).
