Hi,
I've been trying various high-end motherboards. The two I currently have
running with SuSE 6.0 kernel 2.2.3 are:
TYAN S1836DLUAN-GX (voted motherboard of the year 1998 by MaximumPC Magazine)
I have it running with 2x350MHz PII, 256MB SDRAM, 1x4.5GB UW SCSI + 2x9.1
UW2 SCSI HD, etc.
The board has 2 channel Adaptec AIC7890, onboard Intel EE 100TX Network
card, Sound Card.
TYAN S1836DLUAN-GX retails abt. EURO 580 (Jan.99)
The othe motherboard I have is
ASUS P2B-S
I am running it with SuSE 6.0, 1x350MHz PII overclocked to 400MHz
128MB SDRAM, 1x4.5 GB UW SCSI HD, 1x2.5GB IDE HD
The board has on-board Adaptec AIC7895 SCSI chip, which is not supported
by SuSE version earlier than 6.0 (or 5.3 - need to check again).
Both systems are performing well... I only had one of the systems hang
once after one of my 5y/o sons played with it for a while :)
Cheers,
Gantcho
