The controller is an Adaptec onboard dual channel UltraSCSI AIC-7895. The
bios is pretty new (Award on a 440BX Gigabyte Dual PII bought at the end of
last year).
The UDMA registers 1027 cylinders logical geometry, and appears to
configure correctly. However, it is at the 8.4Gb limit.
Again I'd point out that Linux has no problem, and last night I managed to
get the NT to see the partition table (though the install got all the way
to restarting the computer, then hung on startup).
