Dear Alessio
below is the answer I received from SuSE technical support on this issue.
I use 5.3, hence I can't verify what they say, but they *do* say halt -p is
supported in 6.0. Therefore when you call
shutdown -h now
your change of 'halt -p' in the shutdown script should work!
k.
p.s. the AX59 is a good board (I use it too), but power off is nothing to do
with board's bios, as Linux turns it off.... :-)

I think not much. I think that our halt in 5.3 does not support -p,
but our halt in 6.0 does support it.
halt is in the package sysvinit. I've looked for an update for 5.3
but there isn't one here.

Subject: Re: [SuSE Linux] still Aopen and poweroff (sorry :^)
:i have the latest version 6.0 and I think (but I am not sure) that its
:'halt' command supports the '-p' option. Also Ithink that in the poweroff
:command this '-p' is supported in some way that I don't know (it's a
:binary, not a script)
:I've also tried to put the '-p' option in the halt rc script, but i dosn't
:work: it halts everything as always, but instad of powering off the
:machine it hangs :^)
:are you more lucky?
:Ciao,
: Alessio
