I also got wvdial to work this weekend. Seems to be connected but I can't "go" 
anywhere in any app. Tried via Netscape and
one of the xftp's and lynx. I don't recall the exact error messages but something to 
the effect that it can't find the
server. I noticed that the primary and secondary dns numbers were not the same as I 
use when setting up in Windows. I
saved logged the dial up sessions and thought I put them in a fat partition but can't 
locate it. I don't have time to boot
to linux this a.m., i'll get the exact messages tonight.
