True.  As I said in my intial note to Samy, I had removed Postgres from
my system several months ago while I tested other db engines like
Oracle, Sybase, MySQL and some others, and when I reinstalled it I used
the latest version from www.PosgreSQL.com and compiled and installed it
manually.  Thanks for the additional guidance to Samy!
