Hopefully Richard's mail cleared things up, but at least in my KDE
environment things are trivially different. You must right-click on the
desktop and select New -> Application. The name Program.kdelnk can be
changed to something like SOffice.kdelnk if you like, or it can be changed
later. All that's left now is to set up the Execute line and pick an
icon.
Of course, if you install the KDE Integration in Star Office some icons
will already be present in your K menu.
