Hi Hans,
sorry, no. I have 2 SS5 and 1 SS LX, but no 2.4.x worked on any of these
machines.
I'm pretty happy now with 2.2.21rc2 on a SS5, a 2.2.19 with specially
compiled
"esp" SCSI driver (gcc 2.81 instead of gcc 2.95.2 ) and a 2.2.20 (SuSE
stock)
on my LX.
The last working version (on my machines) was 2.4.2-SuSE, which was
shipped
with SuSE 7.1 SPARC, but about every 2..3 week the machines would freeze,
needing
a STOP-A reset.

Thema: [suse-sparc] 2.4.X /32bit
Hi all,
Here, at work, I got a SS20 on my desktop running 2.4.17 nicely, and is
currently doing SMP for 11 days without a hitch.
So I got the impresion that most of the 32-bits trouble were over.
Therefor I decided to upgrade my machines at home (SS4, LX)
Installation of 7.3 with just some minor problems (did not recognized cd 2
and cd3, but manual rpm solved that)
Building of 2.4.17 kernel took long, but finished without any error. BUT,
After silo addaption and reboot it completely fails to boot the 2.4
kernel.
After the silo prompt, it starts for a moment, but performs immediately a
auto-reboot.
So nothing is written is any log, can't hit the magic-key and can't
perform
a traceback/register-dump from the openboot-prompt.
I noticed that there are some minor hardware differences within the SUN4m
family (microsparc / hypersparc)
but never thought it had any impect on the kernel.
So finally my Question:
==> is there anybody with a running 2.4.x kernel on a ss4,ss5 or ss-lx ?
<==
