well sometimes you have to laugh at yourself...

on my sparcstation 20 I got suse to load as far as YAST and here I go 
trying to get fancy and do custom partitions... I saw all the existing 
solaris partition and said why not and deleted em all.. even something 
called "Whole Disk"
wow.. was that an error... suse said it couldn't format my drives and 
failed the install
tried to reinstall Solaris 7 (the only Solaris CD I have) and solaris says 
you have no hard drives...

luckily for me the zoot build of redhat 6 nicely formatted my 
drives(replacing the "magic number") and installed redhat.
so now I know the machine works runs and Linux runs fairly well...
Redhat tho only setup / and /boot... hmmm I wonder

well I'm off to trying suse again seeing if I can not screw it up this time.
