I haven’t done anything with the ICA client per se, but have tried other things which have displayed results similar to yours...

One thought: Have your reconciled your monitor resolution / depth with that required for the ICA client?  I was also attempting to run a graphics-intensive application, and all was working well except the rendering of the screen itself – resulting in a consistent ‘hang’.
