Hi,

Does it mean you managed to disable DMA only for /dev/cdrom ? How did
you do that ? For the moment my Blade 100 is run with no DMA for any IDE
device because the DVD drive seems to dislike it (you have probably the
same problem ?).

Thanks in advance.

Objet: RE: [suse-sparc] New kernel for testing

FYI,

Got the new kernel running on my SunBlade 100, so far everything has
been
stable.
Sound driver loaded, and I left DMA turned on /dev/hda.

Report back after a few weeks of use.

Thanks!

Subject: [suse-sparc] New kernel for testing

Hi,

I made a new 2.4 kernel based on 2.4.20-pre7 public for testing. It
is tested on sun4m and sun4u. I doubt that it works on sun4c or
sun4d, but I don't have hardware to test that.

You can find this below ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/kukuk/SPARC/

You can also find a new gcc 3.2 and a current glibc in this directory.

I would be happy about any feedback, on which machines it works and
on which not.

reiserfs, jfs, ext3 and xfs are supported on 32bit and 64bit SPARC.
I know that jfs makes some assumptions which fails on sparc64, so
expect big problems here.

New filesystem utilities for reiserfs/jfs/xfs/ext3 will follow the
next hours.
