I posted this elsewhere, but thought that my "birthing list" might also be interested... (you can also tell me if I got anything wrong).

(up now for thirty days straight) Timo is a Sun SPARC10 that I bought from a student for 300 EUR (including a large monitor that I didn't really want) and which began a new life as a "catch-all and practice" server running Linux SuSE 7.3. Because Timo is "genetically" a SPARC, I ended up compiling Apache with PHP myself, learning how to use CPAN (the automated facility for installing addional Perl modules, and much more. This was a wonderful learning process. Timo has a slow (but RISC!) processor, fairly fast SCSI drives and is now serving photographs (1600+) using a PHP-based program (Gallery) as well as static webpages that have no other home. -Kevin -- Kevin Pfeiffer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - www.iu-bremen.de Online Editorial Services - International University Bremen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
