address is "attached" to the machine, not to a single network device. Therefore every network card of a machine has the same MAC. This is no problem as long as the NIC are in different networks. The MAC address is set in the NVRAM, at least at my IPX.

On many Sun machines (all?) you can set the OBP variable "local-mac-address?" to "true". Then each network device can have it's own address.
