Hi, I'm trying to find a bootable image for a SunBlade 2000 (really a 1000 with lots of extras), it's a 2-way UltraIII 900 with 4 Gig of memory. I've tried every image I can think of, including SuSe 7.3, Debian Woody, Gentoo and Mandrake. They all fail with similar errors....essentially the image won't even boot.
Booting from CD gives errors about fast "MMU Fast Access Miss", booting from "net" downloads the image (I'm serving it from an i686 running SuSe 8.2) and then returns "Instruction Access Error". I've tried replacing the image, using variations of tftp64 and tftpboot from all distributions (and tftp32 for that matter, which states that it doesn't contain a valid kernel for my machine...no surprises) and I've tried booting from it serveral times, thay all give the same "Instruction Access Error". So I can discount bad images and "blips" in the network. I've come to the conclusion that the standard sun4u image just plain doesn't work on a Blade (or probably any UltraIII chip). Extensuive searching reveals that kukuk created a tftp-blade image for SuSe but I can't find it anywhere and other searches say it's out-of-date with the latest kernel anyway. SuSe would be my first choice, and Debian my second, but I'm happy to install most anything that works. Anyone know where I can get a Blade image (or know how to build one without a working Sparc Linux...I have a working Solaris), or have any other ideas? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
