Unfortunately, SuSE 7.3 is still the latest and greatest SuSE for sparc. I recently switched to Aurora Linux which is an adaptation of RedHat 7.3. Aurora Linux is also working on Corona, a more recent RedHat version. Given its links to Fedora and the active involvement of at least one RedHat employee, Aurora Linux is not a "dead end" distribution.
I switched my home server/firewall to Aurora and have been fairly satisfied. It also seems to work on both sparc32 and 64. -----Original Message----- From: Rob Hartzenberg [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 2003 7:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [suse-sparc] SUSE-Sparc and Enterprise 250/3500 Servers Hi list, I have been tasked with looking after a few sun boxes. I would like to reinstall and use linux instead as the security on these machines is perhaps not as it should be. Is SUSE-Sparc 7.3 still the lastest and greatest for these machines? What sort of problems can I expect during install and running them as web/mail servers? Any suggestings, RTFM's (provided you show me where) etc are welcome.
