I was trying to install SUSE-Linux 7.3 on my Sun Sparc Classic, which is connected to a scsi-cdrom. Everything works fine, but the ethernet doesn't. So I tried to make the net-test during the system startup and the answer is:
With a connection to a hub/router via a "standard" network cable, the external loopback (TPE) fails. With a connection to my laptop via a crossover network cable, the external loopback (TPE) succeeds. And this is the same with my Linux. I can login over ssh with a connection over my laptop but, with the router connection the system always tries to switch between TPE an AUI. Are there any possible solutions for this problem? Maybe the startup screen helps: SPARCclassic, No Keyboard ROM Rev. 2.12, 32 MB memory installed, Serial #7359074. Ethernet address 8:0:20:19:2b:b7, Host ID: 80704a62.
