No thats not the reason.

Meanwhile i enabled pm-debugging in the kernel and this is what i
get in dmesg after a broken resume where the laptop rebooted:

Magic number: 0:392:152
hash matches device ttyp6

but what does that mean, the terminal causes the failure?

PS: My initial statement that the chance of a broken resume increases
over time was wrong, i cannot see any pattern.

Update: Im getting those "hash matches device..." for various
terminals and also on a clean boot.
