I for myself don't like the autofoo stuff very much and i think it is a major PITA for small projects. But i am not the one to decide this, as i am only maintaining a small piece of the code (mainly the whitelist). And as long as running "autoreconf -fi; ./configure" does not take longer than the actual compilation, i really don't care too much.
