Dear Developers of s2ram and related, I recently checked s2ram in a minimal system environment at the command line using
init=/bin/bash mount /proc mount /sys First the working results: s2ram -f -a 3 With all other known options s2ram worked fine, resume did not. Moreover, s2ram did not work at all (i.e. also resume did not) with s2ram -f -p -s s2ram -f -s s2ram -f -a 1 -s showing the following in the terminal: Switching from vt1 to vt1 Calling save_state Allocated buffer at 0x11000 (base is 0x0) ES: 0x1100 EBX: 0x0000 The output from s2ram -i is: dhcppc2:~ # s2ram -i This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = "LENOVO" sys_product = "89196VG" sys_version = "ThinkPad R61" bios_version = "7KET64WW (1.14 )" Although s2ram -f -a 3 works fine in a minimal environment, it does not work within X11. The following lines show you which system I use in detail: Opensuse 10.2 x86_64 with recent updates Kernel 2.6.22.1-10-default from Opensuse Factory (01.08.2007) Latest kde 3.5.7 Qt 3.38 Graphics Card with latest proprietary NVIDIA driver: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> glxinfo | grep OpenGL OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: Quadro NVS 140M/PCI/SSE2 OpenGL version string: 2.1.1 NVIDIA 100.14.11 The machine: Lenovo Thinkpad R61 89196VG, 2 GHz Core 2 Duo using the latest BIOS from Lenovo with the following pci-output: dhcppc2:~ # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile Memory Controller Hub (rev 0c) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PCI Express Root Port (rev 0c) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f3) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation Mobile IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation Mobile SATA AHCI Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 0429 (rev a1) 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Unknown device 4230 (rev 61) 15:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ba) 15:00.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd Unknown device 0832 (rev 04) 15:00.2 Generic system peripheral [Class 0805]: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 21) 15:00.3 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd Unknown device 0843 (rev 11) 15:00.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter (rev 11) 15:00.5 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev 11) I hope this helps other users although suspend does not work within X11.
