Taste of Autumn *Saturday, September 22 * *9am to 2pm* A Taste of Autumn is a fundraiser for Sustainable Cortland, the Homer Farmers Market and the Cultural Council of Cortland County.
At 9am the Homer Farmers Market opens. Market vendors will have free samples of their products. >From 10am to noon, "The Art of Cooking Mushrooms" will take place in the downstairs kitchen of the Homer Congegational Church. Tickets at $10 and include the cooking demo and recpetion (see below for more information). >From 11am to 2pm, participants can sample local tastes from the Homer Farmers Market (until 1pm) and various downtown locations (Dasher's, Oh My Goodness, Cooking on Wheels, Lucky Kitchen and so on). Tickets can be purchased at the market, Oh My Goodness and the Picture House Frame Shop. See attached flyer. *The market tastings include:* * - Winter Squash Tortellini, Pesto, Carmelized Onions, Pickled Chilis - Roasted Carrots and Beets, Mole, Yogurt, Cilantro - Lamb Meatball Sandwich, Aioli, Harissa, Zucchini Salad * *- Pork Rilletes, Garlic Jam, Spicy Radish Salad - Braised Beef Short-ribs, Roasted Garlic, Leeks and Fresh Herbs - Fresh Chicken Sausage, Potato Gnocchi, Crispy Fried Kale - Chevre Panna Cotta, Granola Crust, Fresh Berries* And much more!! The Art of Cooking with Mushrooms at A Taste of Autumn**** *Cooking with Mushrooms* is a fundraiser for Sustainable Cortland and the Cultural Council of Cortland County. The class is being offered Saturday, September 22nd, from 10-noon in the kitchen of the Homer Congregational Church. ** ** Dr. Tim Baroni, SUNY Cortland professor, noted authority on mushrooms, and highly adept at cooking with mushrooms, will demonstrate how to prepare several elegant mushroom hors d’oeuvres. Class participants will sample the dishes following the demonstration. They will also learn critical facts about mushrooms and general tips for cooking with mushrooms. In addition, they will receive copies of recipes for the hors d’oeuvres and recipes for some of Baroni’s favorite mushroom entrees. **** ** ** Tickets for the class are $10 and can be purchased at Oh My Goodness Health Foods in Homer, at the Picture House 85 Homer Avenue in Cortland, or by calling the Cultural Council at 753-1188. Tickets for other Taste of Autumn events on that same day at the Homer Farmers’ Market and in the Village can also be purchased at these locations. **** ** ** ** ** *Trip to NY Botanical Garden * * * There are still a few seats available on the bus headed for the NY Botanical Garden September 29, 2012. This is another fundraiser for Sustainable Cortland and the Cultural Council. Tickets are $85, which includes entry to the garden and bus fare.
