I too believe that we were created in God's image.  

We were also give free will, including the free will to become stewards, or to 
become a weed species.  We've chosen to become a weed species.

That's the problem, in my opinion.

I guess I also take the view that human beings are the equivalent of weeds.  We 
are a weed species, and we  have tended to radically alter, if not destroy, 
every place we have ever settled.  
 How odd. I always thought that we were created in God's image--not as weeds, 
but as stewards of his creation
