Dear friends,

A reminder that the rescheduled visit of Juan Gonzalez (after his back surgery
last fall) is Monday, February 25. He will give a free public lecture based on
his most recent book, "News for All the People: The Epic Story of Race in U.S.
Media," at 7:30 p.m. in Ithaca College's Emerson Suites (Campus Center).

We do hope you will join us to hear the journalist, author, and Democracy Now!
cohost discuss the subject of his latest book (cowritten with Joseph Torres),
the groundbreaking study, seven years in the making, of how U.S. media and
federal media policy have influenced and been influenced by race issues and
racism. It also depicts the struggle of journalists of color who founded
democratic alternative media and later forced open the doors of mainstream
media companies.

>From the publisher's note: "Based on years of original archival research and
>up-to-the-minute reporting and written by two veteran journalists and leading
>advocates for a more inclusive and democratic media system, News for All the
>People should become the standard history of American media."

Cordially,
