We featured Sox Sperry at our April climate conference. It was one of the
highest-rated sessions! Check it out on July 17 at GreenStar.

 Hi, Gay,

I am looking for ways to let educators and parents know about the class
below. Does Sustainable Tompkins
have an email list or newsletter in which this class can be listed?

Thanks for your help. -- Pam

Special Class at GreenStar
*Where Food, Social Justice and Media Meet: Critical Thinking with our Kids
*Wednesday, July 17, 7 - 8:30 PM
Looking for ways to engage your kids or students in reflective discussions
about what we eat and how our food choices impact a sustainable and secure
food system for all? *Sox Sperry* will lead an interactive session using
media materials from Project Look Sharps curriculum kits including the
latest *Media Constructions of Sustainability: Finger Lakes*. This
curriculum looks at food, water and agriculture in our region from the
lenses of social justice, climate change, energy and economy. You’ll have
fun decoding media messages to model ways to deepen discussions about the
consumption of both food and media with the young people in your life.
Participants will work with examples appropriate for elementary, middle,
high school and college level. Sox Sperry is the primary curriculum writer
for Project Look Sharp. His 40 years of teaching practice and activist
organizing have concentrated on ways to engage people in action and
reflection around issues related to peace and social justice. This class is
free and open to the public, and is held in the meeting room at GreenStar
Cooperative Market’s West-End Store, 701 W. Buffalo St. Registration is
required - sign up at GreenStar's Customer Service Desk or call 273-9392.
