Hello Friends and Neighbors,

Some of you may be familiar with the Green Street Project. Briefly, the
city of Ithaca plans to sell the Green Street Parking garage to a private
developer. Only one proposal was submitted. And the proposal on the table
only extends the reach of a current monopolizer of downtown real estate
with no discernible public benefit.

If you feel passionately about the preservation of Common land for Common
good, I also invite you to join me in Ithaca's Common Council Chambers
(third floor of city hall) on *Thursday, April 26 at 8:30a* for the Ithaca
Urban Renewal Agency's (IURA) monthly meeting. There will be an opportunity
for public comment for those who would like to speak. Additionally, you are
welcome to voice your concerns at Common Council on *Wednesday, May 2 at 6p*
.

If you are unable to attend these meetings and are so moved, please email
Nels Bohn, Director of IURA, <[email protected]> and let him know one
proposal absent affordability is unsustainable and untenable. If you are
feeling particularly vigorous, contact all of Common Council <
[email protected]> and let them know the city needs a lot more than
an increased tax base and a convention center if it wants to be sustainable
for future generations.

Here's a second link to the petition:

Please share this link and this email with anyone and everyone who cares
deeply about inclusive, sustainable development.

Thank you for your time and concern.

With Heart,

Things are not getting worse, they are getting uncovered. We must each hold
each other tight and continue to pull back the veil.
