SewGreen - a new collective to promote and teach sustainable sewing and creative reuse of fabric, fiber, and fashion - is holding a Sewing Reuse Rummage Sale. The sale will offer a variety of fabrics, yarn, sewing equipment, used sewing machines, and other needlecraft items suitable for reuse. Proceeds will go to support community sewing classes and refashioning workshops.
The sale will be held in Ithaca on Saturday, October 20, from 11 am to 3 pm, at the Unitarian annex, on Buffalo Street between Tioga and Aurora. The event will also include a free t-shirt reuse workshop from noon to 2, demonstrations of a treadle sewing machine, and an exhibit of earth-friendly fashions and fibers. Please donate items to the sale! Donations can be dropped off at Tompkins County Cooperative Extension, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca, on October 3 and October 10, from 4 to 7 pm. Bring your unwanted fabric (clean and folded, please), old sewing machine, buttons, yarn, sewing books, etc - whatever is still useful for sewing and needlecraft projects. Call Wendy at 277-7611 if you need other arrangements for drop-off. SewGreen is looking for volunteers to help sort and price the sale items and to work with us the day of the sale. Contact Wendy Skinner, [EMAIL PROTECTED], 277-7611, if you can help. _______________________________________________ RSS, archives, subscription & listserv information for: [email protected] http://lists.mutualaid.org/mailman/listinfo/sustainabletompkins free hosting by http://www.mutualaid.org
