The Snopes writer says that teaching about the Holocaust is mandatory in the UK for ages 11-13, although a study by the British Department of Education and Skills found a department in one city that wasn't doing so. When one reads the two articles cited in the email, one sees that a recent study found that "some" teachers in the UK were not teaching about the Holocaust. The BBC online doesn't mention the story. I wholeheartedly agree that we must remember the Holocaust in order to learn from it. I also worry that we, like the "good Germans," may be playing down the killings done in our name in the Middle East. I'll stop here because my further comments would be off-focus for this list.
