Can you believe it! It's almost time again for the Shortest Ride on the Shortest Day -- this year on Sunday, December 20, at 1:00 pm. Meet near the turtle in Cass Park (under the pavilion if it's raining or snowing). The ride will be over by 2:00 pm; those of us who feel like sitting around CTB and chatting might take longer before returning to Cass Park.

This year the Tour de Solstice has the additional sponsorship of Bike It, the organization that's planning to ride to Detroit in June (more info at www.bikeit.org <http://www.bikeit.org>). Claire Stoscheck will be there to provide info and help.

To get details about the TdS, see http://bikeithaca.org

The ride this year is extended to a full two miles with a mid-way rest stop. Hopefully we'll have some proper winter conditions like last year so Ithaca's experienced winter cyclists get a chance to show the rest of us how it's done. But, whatever the weather, everyone is invited -- no special equipment or skills required.

For anyone who is interested in using a bike year-round, there will be experienced cyclists ready to answer questions and provide good advice. What kind of bike, what kind of tires, clothes, techniques -- all the mysteries of year-round cycling will be represented and available for your examination.

And, if the distance is too much -- meet us at Gimme Coffee on State St to cut the distance in half! (You can even walk and meet us at the destination -- it's only 2 miles!) So, do come.

Last year was a blast; don't miss it this year.

Andrejs
