The Local Meats Fair coordinated by Tompkins County Cooperative Extension in October 2009 was a great success, and the event is making its way to neighboring counties! Please share the following information with your friends and co-workers from the Corning area. The Corning Locally Grown Foods Festival will include a range of products in addition to meats, and the venue is located next to a skating rink, making this a potential "family outing destination event". Enjoy!!!

Locally-Grown Foods Festival
Friday, February 19, 5:00-8:00 pm
Union Hall, 100 Civic Center Plaza, Corning NY

Cornell Cooperative Extension invites consumers to meet regional farmers and sample locally produced meats, vegetables, fruits, cheese, wines, microbrews and other farm products at the first-ever Locally-Grown Foods Festival in Corning, NY.

At least a dozen local producers will be present to talk about their farms and to share information on buying local products. The event will feature a series of mini-classes on working with local butchers, how to join a Community Supported Agriculture cooperative, the benefits of buying local meats and produce, and more. Some local products will be available for sale and Food Stamps will be accepted toward purchases.

The Locally-Grown Foods Festival will be held on Friday, February 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Union Hall, 100 Civic Center Plaza in Corning, next to the Nasser Civic Center Skating Rink. Admission is $5 per individual/$10 per family. Call Steuben County Cornell Cooperative Extension at 607-664-2300 to register or for more information, or email Kerri Bartlett at [email protected]. Reservations are appreciated by February 17 so that an appropriate amount of samples can be prepared.
