We all appreciate the foresight and generosity of Robert H. Treman for creating
the state park named after him. But it was the work of Henrietta Wickham who
opened the Enfield Falls Hotel in the 1850s (an unusual thing for a woman to do
in those days) that inspired the Tremans to buy the hamlet more than 90 years
ago and make the gorge and waterfalls accessible to us all forever.

Now you can find out the whole story. Last month's public program of the
Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park, “Rediscovering the Enfield Falls
Hotel,” will be cablecast four times in the next three weeks on Ithaca Public
Access Cable Channel 13 (only in Ithaca; but it is also available online at
http://blip.tv/file/3386252). This show is a follow-up to the award-winning
program from last year, “Searching for the Enfield Falls Hotel,” which I
recently had re-cablecast on Channel 13. In this 49-minute sequel, archeologist
Sherene Baugher gives her illustrated report on the ten-year hotel archeology
project and tells us what we have learned.
Here is the schedule of showings:
Friday, March 26, 8:00 p.m. (That’s this Friday!)
Sunday, March 28, 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 4, 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 11, 7:00 p.m.

This schedule is also posted on our website:
http://friendsoftreman.wordpress.com/ .

Once again, “Rediscovering the Enfield Falls Hotel” can be seen online at
http://blip.tv/file/3386252. People with dial-up connections or older computers
may have trouble viewing this.
