SEWGREEN STORE Grand ReOpening & Sale, April 10
The SewGreen Store has moved, but not far! We are still in the DeWitt Mall, on Cayuga Street between Buffalo and Seneca, in downtown Ithaca. The new store is bigger and is filled with beautiful fabrics, yarn, and needlecraft supplies that have been "rescued for reuse." To celebrate, we are having a Grand ReOpening and special sale on Saturday, April 10. Bring your own reusable bag and stuff it with sale items for just $7. All other purchases will be 10 percent off. Our all-reuse store is run by volunteers, and proceeds help support SewGreen's classroom activities and programs for youth. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday.

2010 SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM
"Summer at SewGreen" is a seven-week intensive training and learning experience for teens who like to sew or are interested in learning. The program covers sewing, designing and making apparel, and exploring individual creative talents while learning workplace responsibilities in a diverse group. A showcase of each teen's work is presented at a public reception, and in the last two weeks of the program, the teens assist in classes for children. The program runs every afternoon Monday through Thursday from July 12 through August 28. We have room for ten teens who may apply for free apprenticeships or who qualify for subsidized summer jobs through the Ithaca Youth Bureau, The Learning Web, or other agencies that offer youth employment. Contact SewGreen Coordinator Wendy Skinner, [email protected], 607-277-7611, for more information.

COLLEGE INTERNSHIPS & SUMMER JOBS
College fashion and apparel design students are invited to apply for unpaid internships at SewGreen during the summer. Responsibilities include helping with the summer youth program. Perks include unlimited access to a fully-equipped sewing studio, volunteer experience, and deep discounts at the SewGreen store. Paid internships and summer jobs are a possibility if you qualify for federal work-study assistance or can coordinate an academic program with our needs. Spend the summer in Ithaca, build your resume, and work on your own projects in a creative atmosphere! Contact SewGreen Coordinator Wendy Skinner, [email protected], 607-277-7611, for more information.

TEACHER TRAINING
Become a SewGreen volunteer teacher and learn to teach beginning sewing skills to children, teens, and adults in a diverse and creative environment. Your commitment can be as little as one class per month. SewGreen classes are typically scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings; Friday afternoons; and Saturday mornings and afternoons. Contact Wendy, [email protected], 607-277-7611, for information on the next training and how to get involved.

OUR SEARCH FOR SPACE
SewGreen is looking for a larger space for its classroom. We need 1,000 to 1,500 square feet, or more, of clean, ready-to-use space, in the downtown Ithaca area, that is suitable for a family and youth clientele. Thanks for any tips!

Collegetown ART Contest
Kudos to Cornell University senior Chelsea Clarke, who has been a versatile SewGreen volunteer for much of her time in Ithaca. Chelsea is a principle organizer of Collegetown ART (Art, Recycling, and Trash Cans), a project to beautify and clean up collegetown streets with artful containers for litter and recyclables. The group is accepting submissions for art to go on the new cans. For info, visit http://sites.google.com/site/collegetownart/the-art-conte .
