Yes, it is very important to be included as a 'stakeholder' for this study
process.
They can freely ignore comments from those who are not official
stakeholders.
It is a technical and legal term of great importance.
Groups and individuals need to request to be added -- don't just say "please
add me," but also provide a few sentences as to what your STAKE is, in
having a role developing and contributing to the major EPA study about
hydrofracking. You are a resident -- you are concerned about air, water and
community; you are an organization - your concerns are...etc. It's simple,
but necessary. I have asked DRAC to send in a request to be added, and have
submitted the Cayuga Lake Watershed Network as a stakeholder.
The person asking for our submissions to be added, Janice Whitney, is
already overwhelmed by the number of people and groups requesting
stakeholder status, and so we may need to figure out a way to work as a
group of stakeholders so that she does not have to communicate with each one
of us individually.
The kickoff meeting for this process is being held on April 7-8 in DC, and
if we can't be there, we can listen in, and see stuff on Web sites, and
prepare to respond when provided with opportunities to do so. See info about
this, below:

Subject: updated teleconference information and call in number for
the April 7-8 Hydraulic Fracturing meeting
hi Janice,
I have updated teleconference information and call in number for the
April 7-8 Hydraulic Fracturing meeting.
The dial-in number to call in and listen to the meeting is:
866-299-3188; after you call this number, the operator will ask you to
put in the following conference code: 202-343-9995.
For this meeting, due to the anticipated large audience, the
teleconference will only allow callers in to listen to the meeting.
Callers in will not be able to talk into the phone and be heard at the
meeting.
For this meeting, due to the anticipated large audience, the
teleconference will only allow callers in to listen to the meeting.
Callers in will not be able to talk into the phone and be heard at the
meeting. We are also requesting that any folks who call in on this
teleconference line to please place their phones on mute, since that
could potentially affect the sound system in the meeting room.
We cannot guarantee audibility for folks calling in due to the large
size of the room.
Please let me know if you need any additional information or have any
other questions. Thanks

I certainly think the group leaders [FLP, DRAC, ST, NYGC, Shaleshock, etc.]
need to sign on all of our respective working groups.
I sent Janice my interest as an individual member and listed my group
affiliations.

As you can see, yesterday Lindsay Speer posted the message below
regarding stakeholders in the EPA hydrofracking study. I haven't seen
any discussion on this and the timeline is very short (respond by next
Tuesday). Are any groups or individuals planning on signing up as
stakeholders? It seems very important, - or am I missing something?
