Well my thoughts are that SVG has not really moved as much as it should
have, with this going on at least we will know what's going to happen and
whatever it will be, will probably be on a major scale, either it will be
part of flash and SVG / Flash will grow or Adobe may consider not supporting
it. I cannot see they are going to spend all time on both, they will choose
a roadmap and put all effort into one area.

Major changes to come I see

my guess is that it changes nothing. Adobe is such a big company - 
they will push both technologies. It will be competition between 
Flash and SVG within one company ... If they are smart, they would 
produce a viewer that supports both SVG and Flash or use the Flash 
authoring system to also author SVG. 
 
They will continue to develop the Macromedia products with a large 
customer base (Flash, Dreamweaver and the other web-tools) but may 
abandon products with a smaller customer base, such as Freehand. 
 
just my own personal opinion,
