I looked at this the first time that you posted it. I think that there is some interaction between the declarative set attribute and the Javascript set attribute, but I don't know for sure and can't explain it (maybe someone who really understands this will comment). If it were me, I'd remove the declarative set attribute tags and just use Javascript to do what I wanted.
